I gave a talk Saturday morning on time management. If there’s one subject I’m passionate about besides goal setting, it’s time management. Today’s 30 minute talk to my romance writer’s group, gave them a taste of the workshops I’m doing in Shreveport, LA (March) and Memphis, TN (June.)
Wait, why are you sleeping? You don’t think time management is sexy?
It is when you do it right.
Let me show you.
First you have to know why you want to do something. Motivation for a goal gives you the energy to make sure you ‘find’ the time to devote. No motivation, no progress.
At the beginning of the workshop, I asked everyone to write down one goal. At the end, I asked them what they had written down.
Most were generic, ‘I’m going to write two manuscripts.’
Cool beans.
Then I challenged them. ”How? What specifically are you going to do to make sure you write two manuscripts?”
Then we got the good stuff. One woman said she surrounded herself with other successful people who guilted her into writing her words. Not the most positive use of accountability partners, but for her, it was effective.
So What’s your goal? And, more importantly, how are you going to get there?

I ask myself these questions each day.
Good post =)
Love & Peace,
Lila
Lila, sometimes I get lost in the planning, then I have to step back and chant, baby steps, baby steps.
Then I open the current document.
Thanks for stopping in.
Always great to check where you are in attaining your goals. Mine is to write the book in my head which requires a near daunting amount of research. That’s where I’m starting, one day a week whilst writing another book over the rest of the time. Nice post Lynn!
Cait, I like having different books in different stages, it keeps me fresh on each. Good luck with you research days.
